Stewart Berg
Stewart Berg was first published in 2014 with a poetic mashup of Ovid and "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" titled "The Inner Being of Phineus of Aetheiopia." In 2019, he founded Falling Marbles Press, a publisher of literary fiction located just west of Austin in Marble Falls, Texas, where he publishes his fiction, non-fiction, and poetry and serves as head editor. Stewart has a total of nine books available with the Press, with "Two Tales of the Fox Family Reynard" of particular note as it features a reworking of William Caxton's original 1481 story as well as a new sequel that follows the grandson of the original Reynard, showcasing how well the progeny does in the world created by the trickster grandfather.
Stewart has also published "The Pentameron" [https://www.fallingmarbles.com/pentameron-day-one/] under the penname Mariah Ashe, which is a reworking of the 15th Century work “Cent Nouvelles Nouvelles.” First translated into English in 1899 by Robert Douglas, this collection of stories is now, for the first time, elevated to the level of Boccaccio’s Decameron and the Heptameron of Marguerite de Navarre with a frame story fitting for it.
