Alexander Adams: how to start a dissident art Movement
The Twelve Rules for Artists is the best chapter. From taking yourself seriously to working for your people to taking responsibility and suffering well, this chapter of the book provides clear guidance in our confused landscape.
'....you must make sure that people want to be with your art and develop an attachment.' This sentence encourages the artist to look beyond themselves and consider the social aspect. Art is, after all, a social business, as Adams informs us.
He also informs us that The Future in not Trad. A potentially spicy chapter for some.
Now I could wax on and on about the book, but I think you, dear reader, should read it. If you are a fan of art, a concerned citizen when it comes to art, or an artist yourself, this book is a must read.
The book has 15 chapters made up of new material but also various speeches that Adam's has done over the years relevant to the topic. The last part of the book is a collection of letters and notes that Adams has sent to various people over the years, this part shows the life of an artist, from how an artist observes art to how he communicates with other and so much more.
If you want to finally read something about art that provides the necessary critique without being black-pilled, and also faces the future with confidence... read this book.
